Considering that as little as one litre of mineral oil can render one million litres of drinking water unfit for human consumption, there really is a strong case for the use of biodegradable lubricants. And when you think that in the field of loss lubrication alone (chain oils for chain saws, slideway oils, formwork oils, hydraulic fluids, etc…) millions of litres of mineral oil-based lubricants somehow find their way back into the environment where they cannot be broken down, the importance of using biodegradable lubricants to protect the environment becomes all the more apparent.
